trackerIt is exceptionally easy to get lost on trails that are in our own cities or even backyards, however if this is a concern for you when you want to go and explore a new trail for a long run, getting a GPS can be the answer.
Using one of these can be a bit tricky since most GPS units are designed for cars and are only programmed with local roads and will not have single track trails. But there are running models available that will locate trails more easily. Many smart phones now come equipped with GPS devices so if you have a phone that doubles as an MP3 player that you take along anyway, it may be worth purchasing a GPS upgrade. The other option that is more running specific is to look at different types of high-end heart rate monitors that track your running distance, altitude gain, calories burned and now even come with a map feature. A real benefit also is that some of these GPS navigators have panic signals that you can activate to notify a loved one or an emergency team if you do get lost.
